My name is V. Marlene Prater and Sweetwater, TN is my hometown. I’ve been employed as a science teacher at Sweetwater Junior High School since 1997. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from Kentucky State University and have earned several advanced degrees, a Masters in Science from The University of Tennessee, a Specialist in Education from Tennessee Technological University, and a Doctorate of Education from Tennessee State University.
My involvement in my community includes serving as Vice President of Sweetwater Valley Citizens for the Arts (SVCA) as well as maintaining memberships and being an active participant in state and local organizations related to employment and to community activism. I’m a published author in IAP, Inc. and I serve as a reviewer for Education and Urban Society.
I live and work in a small rural southern town, but I look forward to seeing positive changes relating to race and diversity occurring in our community.
