"Race permeates most discussions around educational equity, access, opportunity, and student achievement, and will always be case because of our Nation’s struggle to mitigate the impact on the learning experiences and outcomes for Black and Brown students. Historically Black and Brown people have understood educational inequality and inequity through the lens of race and racism. The educational establishment must learn to not only listen to the voices of Black and Brown people; they must also believe and trust in these narratives in ways that impact educational policies and practices. We cannot eradicate racism in education; we can mitigate its negative influence in creating oppressive educational experiences for students of color and their families."
