Parent Talk Live is hosted by Dr. Mike Robinson and airs every Sunday from 8:00 pm-9:00 pm. Our goal is to provide a voice on educational issues from those who have traditionally been unheard or who provide information parents and communities need to make informed decisions. The mission of Parent Talk Live is to highlight exceptional educational leaders who are making a difference in the lives of children, families and communities.

Joining Dr. Mike Robinson, host of Parent Talk Live on Sunday, May 11, 2014 is Dr. Michael Hart. Drs. Robinson and Hart will discuss “Advocating for Your Child with Learning Issues” Dr. Michael Hart is an accomplished educational consultant and business development professional with over 25 years of success in different professional environments. He started his career as a psychologist with an expertise in learning problems and ADD/ADHD. After attending The Wharton School, he transferred his skills and assumed roles in business development and leadership in mostly early stage startups. Over time, Dr. Hart developed a strong ability to understand future trends and communicate that vision in ways that motivates others and creates value.
THE LITERACY CHASM
The massive disconnect between the science of reading instruction and how reading is actually taught has led to untold suffering by our children. It is senseless and unnecessary. Dr. Michael Hart’s mission is to help you effectively advocate for your children and get them the support they need.
Host BIO:
Dr. Michael Robinson is the Founder and CO-CEO of Forest Of The Rain Productions an Internet Education Communications Company. He earned his Doctorate in Higher Education, with a specialization in Community College Leadership from Morgan State University. Prior to attending Morgan State University, Dr. Robinson earned his Masters in Public Administration for Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is a graduate of Kentucky State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
Dr. Robinson is known as an advocate for parents and students. He has worked in the education and community arena for 30 years. He is an authority in community outreach, organizational branding, parental engagement, fatherhood issues, at-risk youth and program development. Dr. Robinson first came to understand the importance of parental and family involvement in the lives of students while working as the Center Standards Incentive Officer at the Woodland Job Corps in Laurel, Maryland. He has worked with communities and families throughout Maryland, Missouri, Kentucky, Virginia, and Washington, DC. He continued sharpening his understanding of the importance of parental engagement as the Director for Foster Care in Northern Virginia . He served as the Assistant Director for Community Education with Baltimore City Community College. He has supported the efforts of families to connect with their neighborhood schools as means improve the academic performance of their children.
Dr. Robinson developed and received funding from the Open Society Institute for The Connection Program (TCP) an innovative learning experience that combined online and classroom instruction, character building/life skills, and mentoring for African American male students who have become disengaged from the public school system.
Dr. Robinson served as the Coordinating Supervisor for Parental Engagement and Community Outreach with Prince George's County Public Schools, the 18th largest school system in the Country. Dr. Robinson is the father of two beautiful daughters. A native of St. Louis, he and his wife Michel have been married for over 25 years, after meeting her on the campus of St. Louis Community College. His interests include spending time with his family, watching sports, and being actively involved in his community.
