About Forest Of The Rain Productions
Michel Davis Robinson: Why are you so passionate about the mission of Forest Of The Rain Productions to expand the voices of those seldom heard?
Dr. Michael A. Robinson: This is an excellent question and one we are asked often. And to be honest, we never get tired having the question asked or answering it!
When you created Forest Of The Rain Productions, I understood instantly why you did it! I wanted to be part of your vision to expand access to as many aspiring change agents as possible. You no longer had the patience to wait for an invitation we knew would never come. I wanted to be there to help you kick down doors, open windows, and invite ourselves and our 2.5 million friends to share their voices.
As an organization, we desired to make sure no one who wanted to be heard would be denied the opportunity to express their views or opinions because someone thought they were not the right person to share the message. You and I have witnessed firsthand how great minds, creative thinkers, and narrative changers were pushed out of organizations, doors slammed in their face or simply ignored by a mentality of selectiveness.
Providing opportunities for the seldom-heard voices in education, fair housing, parental/family engagement, academic research, the business of education, and civic involvement was a mission placed on our hearts by God. Our work ushers in new perspectives, unique assessments and creative solutions to the myriad of challenges facing a global community. Creating this pathway for thinkers, researchers, scholars, educators, civic and community leaders helps to protect their voices from what I call “Dream Snatchers”. Without our platform, many voices would be ignored and their visions stolen by others.
The work we do changes the world! That is why I am so passionate about the mission of Forest Of The Rain Productions!
Michel Davis Robinson: Forest Of The Rain Productions has six pillars: Education, Fair Housing, Parental/Family Engagement, Academic Research, the Business of Education, and Civic Involvement. Which of the six pillars is a deep passion for you?
Dr. Michael A. Robinson: All six of our pillars are significant to the journey you and I have experienced as a family, as professionals, as parents, and as entrepreneurs. There is not one of the six pillars that run deeper than any of the others.
However, I would like to take this opportunity to discuss something you and I are very passionate about and that is urban blight and community decay. Urban Blight has been a major focus of our work for over four years. We have identified the destructive ways urban blight and decaying communities affect the health, mental health and well-being of those surrounded by it every day of their lives. The horrific impact of urban blight primarily on people of color makes this a Civil Rights and Human Rights issue for Forest Of The Rain Productions. The plight of families living in these decaying communities such there is a State of Emergency in many of our urban cities across America.
Urban Blight research has identified major health concerns for residents in these communities. Medical conditions such as increased high blood pressure, heart disease, Psychological dysfunctions, and others are associated with living in blighted and decaying communities. The impact on children living in communities blighted and decaying is heart-breaking. Children in blighted communities often have lower literacy levels, increase behavioral outburst, asthma, and lead poisoning these are just a few of the health and mental challenges children living in blighted communities have to overcome.
We know blighted and decaying communities create economic hardships on families; the depreciation in the value of homes both in blighted and neighboring communities extracts wealth from those who need it the most. Blighted communities typically have higher crime rates and an excessive amount of drug usage. These factors and countless other impacting majority people of color is why urban blight and community decay has been a major aspect of our work for over 4 years.
Michel Davis Robinson: What do you want people to take away from their experience working with Forest Of The Rain Productions?
Dr. Michael A. Robinson: That we are bold in the mission to expand opportunities for the seldom-heard voices! That we are steadfast in our efforts to create a home and place for voices to be heard. It is important for those we work with to know we are there for them. This platform was created to allow them to expand their voices, to share their knowledge, to protect their intellectual property from the Dream Snatchers.
Working with Forest Of The Rain Productions means you have an ally, an organization committed to your growth as a professional, while respecting the uniqueness of your brand and scholarship.
