Xian Franzinger Barrett is a recently laid off middle school teacher from the Chicago Public Schools. He is a founding member of the Caucus of Rank and File Educators (CORE) and #Educolor, an affinity organization of educators of color and allies fighting for educational equity. Xian specializes in developing classrooms where students can grow their own voice and power to create a better, more just world. His students' writings can be found in the Progressive, South Side Weekly and their own literary magazine, The Bright Voice
