Living Education eFocus News continued the discussion on the state of St. Louis, Missouri with Ms. Velma Bailey, former St. Louis City Alderwoman. Currently, Ms. Bailey is the Founder and President of the St. Louis Torchbearers 2.  St. Louis Torchbearers is a youth development organization created to train youth to serve in leadership roles among their peers, in their communities, & throughout the world.


Living Education eFocus:  As a leading voice in the city of St. Louis, in your opinion, what can educators, community stakeholders, city and state elected officials along with housing and business industry leaders do to give young people a sense of opportunity that offers a path to a better future?

Velma Bailey: The children need a path to their future with planned stops that allow the children to make decisions about what their final destination will be. We need to support free appropriate public education and STOP the blame game.
