On this episode of Educational Tapestry, Forest Of The Rain Productions presents a conversation with Dr. Christianne Strang of the University of Alabama at Birmingham regarding the positive impact the arts can have on student behavior.
Bio
Christianne Strang, Ph.D, ATR-BC, CEDCAT-S is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She is a neuroscientist, board certified art therapist with 30 years of clinical art therapy experience, and is a certified eating disorder creative arts therapist supervisor. She provides art therapy services to individuals in treatment for eating disorders and currently serves as the Board President of the American Art Therapy Association.
At UAB, Strang teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in neurobiology, behavioral neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, and introduction to creative arts therapies. She also directs a neuroscience immersion course at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab every summer. She utilizes her training in the neurosciences to inform her clinical practice and is one of the co-authors of the journal article in press “Practical Applications of Neuroscience Informed Art Therapy”.
