Anthony "Tony" Ayers is best known as the founder of the highly successful Unity in the Community, an annual parade and festival which brings together law enforcement, diverse communities, and various organizations from around the region. Through this event he has been nationally recognized for solid community policing practices by the International Chiefs of Police Association. Citing the need to "Move all communities forward and leave no one behind," Ayers says it is time to take positive law enforcement and community involvement to the next level.

Ayers grew up in Pepper Mill Village in Capitol Heights, MD where he currently serves as Chief of Police. After graduating from Bishop McNamara High School, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy, was later accepted into the Prince George's County Police Department Training Academy, served as a police officer for 20 years and retired with honors. He went on to join the Prince George's County Sheriff's Department before being appointed Duty Chief of Police and subsequently the official Chief of Police for Capitol Heights, Md.
