The Role of Youth in Keeping the Fight for Justice Alive
Living Education eFocus News spoke with Danielle M. McFadden and Cary M. Jones, executive officers of the NAACP Collegiate Chapter at the University of Missouri Kansas City about their campus event to bring awareness of the death of Michael Brown, Jr. and the role of youth in keeping the fight for justice alive.
Bio: Danielle McFadden is 21 years old, originally from St. Louis, MO. She is currently a senior at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she is studying Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. Danielle a strong believer of helping others and giving back to my community. On campus, She is very active as the President for the Collegiate Chapter of NAACP as well as a Peer Coach for incoming freshmen where she assist with transitioning into the University setting. As President of NAACP, she is a strong believer in fighting for justice and inequality especially in which her age group are affected as well as bringing awareness to people in the community. In previous years, Danielle held the position of Treasurer on Residential Hall Council during her freshmen year. Upon graduation, she plans to continue her education and receive earn her Master’s degree as well as work full-time. She aspires to become a financial analyst.
Bio: Carly is a graduate of St. Louis Community College - Florissant Valley where she received an Associates of Arts degree in Business Administration and General Transfer Studies. At Florissant Valley, she was actively involved in the Accounting Club, member and president of Static Noises Step Team, Student Government Association, and also Campus Ambassador which gave her the opportunity to study abroad in Southern Italy. Currently, Cary M. Jones is a senior in the Henry W. Bloch School of Management, UMKC studying Business Administration emphasizing in Marketing. She serves as I am Bloch’s Ambassador, Marketing Intern for Sodexo Campus Services, and is also the Vice President of the Collegiate Chapter of NAACP. Carly is involved in Enactus and the newly developed Marketing Club. Her future plans includes receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design. Carly's three life long aspirations includes establishing a high-end clothing boutique, developing a Fashion Marketing Consulting firm, and creating a non-profits girls organization for underprivileged physically disabled youth.
