Dr. Mike Robinson
Creator of The National Men Make A Difference Day for Academic Success
Michael A. Robinson, Ed.D. CO-CEO of Forest Of The Rain Productions, and the Host of Parent Talk Live and Educational Gateway radio shows on the Journey Begins, Internet Radio for the Engaged Parent and Dedicated Educator, would like to assist your school district in its efforts to engage fathers and significant male role models in the lives of children.
Dr. Robinson creator of Men Make A Difference Day would like to help your school district engage fathers and significant male role models. The implementation of the Men Make A Difference Day program resulted in over 10,000 fathers and significant male role models engaging with their children schools on a single day. This remarkable one day event set the stage for increased male engagement across one of the largest school districts in the state of Maryland for the remainder of the school year.
Data indicated fathers who participated in Men Make A Difference Day continued their involvement beyond sports related events. Male participation in school based workshops increased and the number of males who volunteered in schools saw amazing levels of involvement. More fathers and male role models chaperoned school field trips. The effect of the Men Make A Difference Day program saw as many as 32,000 parents escort their children to school on the first day. While that 32,000 is a significant accomplished it was accompanied with information that over 11,000 fathers and male role models were among those escorting their children to school.
The influences of the Men Make A Difference Day program are real and sustainable. Additionally, the cost to implement the Men Make A Difference Day program is considerably inexpensive when compared to the return in male involvement. Teachers, school personnel and central office leadership all agreed their experience with Men Make A Difference Day changed the school climate, impacted students and improved the communication between home and school. Several school personnel quoted they had never spoken to a father and that they could see the behavior of students change right before their eyes.
