Prince George's County's First Parent Academy
In 2009, the first family academy in Prince George's County, Maryland was created. It was designed to connect parents and families with their public schools, while also providing educational enrichment for the entire family.
Dr. Mike Robinson, Founder and CEO of Forest Of The Rain Productions led the creation of the Academy, while serving as the Director, Family and Community Outreach. The Academy has operated successfully under the guidance and leadership of the founding organization Side-by-Side.
Former Board of Education member Rosalind Johnson spearheaded the System's desire to have this program and Dr. Mike Robinson took the lead in connecting the organization to Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) resources and services.
Side-by-Side serves all seven schools in the Laurel, Maryland area and they are doing remarkable work.
