When your research, branding, concepts, and vision are stolen by others because they lack intellectual creativity, it not only angers you, it has a professional and financial impact on the creator.
In most cases, IP theft occurs by those who lack vision and are intellectually lazy and creatively dysfunctional. For those creative minds that are wired to develop new techniques and innovative ways to engage their communities, countless sleepless nights are just some of the prices paid to create something uniquely crafted and designed to impact a world for generations.
My creative process involves having a flip chart and markers in my basement office where I can write down my thoughts, work out my views, and formulate my plan of action as I attempt to develop ways for those of the seldom-heard voices to be heard. I keep a notepad and pen on my nightstand so when an idea comes to me in the middle of the night, I can write it down and later transfer it to my flip chart. The work that so many of us create is more than just some #hashtag slogan, selfies, or some catchy phrase on t-shirts. My work and those like me are grounded in our vision, research, and passion. This is why it is painful to see your IP used by others who, in 99.9% of the cases, will never acknowledge they did not create what they are selling as their brainchild.
Flattery, admiration, honoring, and appreciation are excellent words to cover up the theft of someone's Intellectual Property when the ideas they are profiting from and marketing as their own are anything but their own. Those who are intellectually creative, please continue to change the world with your unique visions for seeing solutions where others see problems. Keep developing innovative theories and concepts where others continue to have the same unproductive arguments for more than two decades running. I am challenging the IP makers, the industry disrupters, and system shakers to CREATE ON AND CHANGE THE NARRATIVE...YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A STEP AHEAD OF THE intellectually lazy and creatively dysfunctional who steal from the minds of others.
